SKIING IN MELLAU, AUSTRIA with AL (Feb. 9 - 11, 2007)

Hey there people! Sorry for the absence, but this time my thesis got in the way and well, I just haven't taken the time to update my blog.
ANYway...

Lots of crazy stuff have been happening in these past two weeks!
This weekend just rocked! I went with some ex-colleagues from Automotive Lighting to Mellau, Austria.
We were a total of 15 people and we wanted to ski for two whole days.

I would love to go into details, but that would just bore the hell out of you.
So here is the short summary:

  1. Arrived Friday night (Feb. 9th ) around 8pm at Hotel Sonne, left our stuff in the room and had dinner. Went to bed early.

  2. Woke up at around 7am on Sat. (Feb. 10th), had breakfast at 8am and we all left at 9am. Got at the ski field around 9:30 am and rented the whole ski equipment: boots, skis and sticks.

  3. FIRST SKI DAY: I fell down on the first curve in a really spectacular way...it hurt like a b...I heard something pop and I thought it was my knee...thank God it was only the ski popping off my right boot. Fell a total of 10 times this day. I went down mostly blue ski roads (easiest level) and went down a red lane (level hard). There are black lanes and I didn't try that at all. I wanted to come back home in one piece! Most of the day was sunny, beautiful, and I was able to see where I was skiing.

  4. We skied til 4pm and then went back to the hotel. Enjoy a good hour in the sauna, swimming pool and whirl pool. Also played some ping pong til like 6.30pm. At around 7pm we had dinner and around 9pm went straight to bed with lots of aches all over.

  5. SECOND SKI DAY: We did the same routes like on Saturday, but this time I fell a total of six times! The weather was a real pain in the @ss! It was snowing big time and it was very windy! You could hardly see where you were skiing. We skied til 4pm and then we took off back to home. Got back home around 8pm and tried to chill out.

  6. Total cost: 118 € for hotel, 39 € for skis, boots and sticks; 65 € for a two day ski pass; one new ski pants for 50 €, ski gloves for 16 €.

  7. Damage: knee hurts, back hurts, right leg responds slowly, right arm hurts, neck also hurts.
I highly recommend you people that for your very first skiing experience you actually have ALL the required ski gear.
Enjoy in the meantime...I'm really beat!
Hugs to you all!
